President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a groundbreaking development, has successfully secured a landmark agreement with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, resulting in the immediate lifting of the visa ban imposed on Nigerian travelers.
The special press statement signed by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity Ajuri Ngelale, states that In a meeting held on Monday in Abu Dhabi, President Tinubu and President Al Nahyan finalized this historic accord, paving the way for the resumption of flight operations by both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines to and from Nigeria without any delay.
The statement further assert that this also implies swift restoration of flight services which does not entail any immediate financial obligations for the Nigerian government, as mutually agreed upon by the two Heads of State. Recognizing President Tinubu’s commitment to economic development diplomacy, as demonstrated by his proposals to his UAE , a comprehensive framework has been established.
This framework will facilitate significant investments amounting to several billions of U.S. dollars in various sectors of the Nigerian economy, including defense, agriculture, and others, by the investment arms of the United Arab Emirates Government.
The statement further informed that President Tinubu is pleased to announce the successful negotiation of a joint foreign exchange liquidity program between the two governments. Detailed information regarding this program will be disclosed in the coming weeks.
