In a recent attack by Boko Haram terrorists along Gwoza Limankara Road, situated 134 kilometers from Maiduguri, four individuals lost their lives, among them a soldier. The victims were part of a convoy that included civilian JTF and military personnel escorting passengers along the route.
This incident marks the latest assault by Boko Haram in Nigeria’s North-East region, where the group has caused immense devastation. Since the onset of the group’s rebellion in 2009, over 40,000 people have lost their lives, and more than two million have been forced to flee their homes.
The Boko Haram insurgents targeted and abducted several other motorists during this attack, also setting a military patrol van and five other vehicles ablaze.
According to a local source, the ambush occurred around 5 p.m. on Saturday, with communication delayed until Sunday afternoon due to network issues.
The source confirmed that three civilians and a soldier fell victim to the Boko Haram ambush on the Gwoza-Limankara-Uvaha Road. The soldier was part of the security detail escorting motorists and passengers along the route.
The attackers set ablaze five commercial vehicles and a military patrol van, leaving several motorists missing in the bush as of Sunday afternoon. Military authorities have yet to provide a statement on the matter at the time of this report.
