The highly anticipated ninth season of Big Brother Naija premiered on Sunday, introducing 28 housemates paired into 14 distinct duos competing for the grand prize of N100 million.
Titled “BBNaija No Loose Guard,” the live premiere show featured performances from top Nigerian artists, including Niniola. Host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu introduced viewers to the new housemates, who will embark on a 71-day journey filled with entertainment and drama.
The show officially begins with the Custodian Challenge, marking the start of a ten-week competition for the title of BBNaija No Loose Guard winner.
Among the diverse pairs entering the house are:
The Zinwe Pair: Chinwe Elibe and Zion Ogiefa, a romantic couple of five months. Chinwe, 30, from Imo State, expressed her love for dancing and fashion, while Zion, 27, from Edo State, shared his passion for sports and modeling.
“We’ve been fans of the show since our teenage years,” Chinwe revealed.
The Radicals Pair: Femi David and Michky, dance partners and self-proclaimed “gym bros.” Femi, 29, from Delta/Warri, and Michky, 24, from Edo State, both emphasized their commitment to fitness and dancing.
“Interestingly, we take pride in the fact that we are virgins,” Femi stated.
The Floruish Pair: Flora Chiedo and Ruth Akpan, friends of ten years. Flora, 26, from Imo State, and Ruth, 32, from Akwa Ibom State, bonded over their shared interests in cooking and traveling.
The Aces Pair: Joseph Bassey Christopher and Samuel Osuji, colleagues with a plan to be unpredictable. Joseph, 24, from Akwa Ibom, and Samuel, 23, from Imo State, have been friends for a year.
“We’re ready to keep everyone on their toes,” Samuel commented.
The show also features unique pairings such as identical twins Handi and Wanni Danbaki, aunt-niece duo Precious and Mary Nwafor, and newlyweds Kingsley and Kassia Sule, who plan to keep their marital status a secret in the house.
As the housemates settle in, viewers can expect a mix of challenges, alliances, and drama unfolding over the coming weeks. The diverse backgrounds and relationships among the contestants promise to bring fresh dynamics to this season of Big Brother Naija.
