In response to the protracted political crisis between Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Aiyedatiwa, a prominent group of elders led by Afenifere’s leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has made a fervent appeal for urgent intervention in the situation.
The elders expressed deep concerns about the governance implications of the ongoing feud and the absence of clear direction within the state’s civil service.
During an emergency meeting in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, a communiqué was issued by the Ondo State Elders and Leaders, highlighting their apprehensions.
They emphasized the potential negative impact of the crisis on crucial matters such as the preparation of the 2024 budget and the state’s representation in national events.
The elders also called upon the ruling All Progressives Congress at both the state and national levels to provide necessary guidance and maintain discipline among their members in government.
They stressed the importance of strong leadership in resolving the constitutional crisis.
In their appeal for intervention, the elders specifically requested the involvement of President Bola Tinubu, with the aim of averting a breakdown of law and order in Ondo State.
Their call stems from the urgent need to restore stability and harmony within the state’s political landscape.
The Ondo State Elders and Leaders’ plea reflects a collective desire for prompt action and a resolution to the ongoing political feud.
