Baze University in Abuja has implemented strict dress code regulations prohibiting saggy trousers, dark glasses, and revealing attire amid growing concerns over indecent dressing on campus.
The Administrative Officer at the Student Affairs Department, Safiya Hassan, issued a memo on November 15 outlining the new guidelines.
“As a reminder, we would like to emphasise the importance of adhering to the institution’s dress code, which is designed to maintain a respectful, professional, and conducive learning environment for all,” the memo stated.
The new regulations set specific standards for both male and female students. Male students must maintain neatly trimmed and well-groomed hair, with bushy and unkempt hairstyles explicitly forbidden.
The university has prohibited dark glasses, saggy trousers, and “any other form of dress that detracts from the decorum expected within the campus environment.”
Female students face restrictions on crop tops and revealing clothes, with the memo specifically addressing “any attire that may be considered distracting or inappropriate for class.” Additionally, female students must maintain their hair at what the university terms a “reasonable length,” avoiding “excessively long or unkempt” hairstyles during classes.

The private institution has established a disciplinary framework for violations, ranging from warnings to temporary suspensions, depending on the severity and frequency of infractions.
“We trust that all students will take this reminder seriously and continue to uphold the high standards expected at our institution,” the memo emphasized.
