Nigerian singer and songwriter, Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has filed a lawsuit against actress, Iyabo Ojo, for allegedly spreading false and damaging information about him on her Instagram account.
According to a letter sent to Ojo by Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, the actress had posted a series of accusations against Naira Marley in September 2023, claiming that he had a spiritual and physical relationship with the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, who died in a car accident in August 2023.
The letter also stated that Ojo had accused Naira Marley of causing mental harm to Mohbad, whom he considered as a ‘brother’, and of being a drug addict who laced the food and drinks he gave to the boys staying with him with drugs, resulting in their ruin.
Naira Marley’s lawyer described Ojo’s post as “malicious and false” and said that it had caused “colossal damage” to Naira Marley’s reputation, as well as brought him to “public ridicule and contempt”.
The letter demanded that Ojo pay Naira Marley N500 million as compensation and issue a public apology to him, which should be posted on her Instagram account and published in a national newspaper. The letter also warned that if Ojo failed to comply with the demand within seven days, Naira Marley would proceed with legal action against her.
