The executive chairman of Akoko-Edo local government area, Hon Tajudeen Alade Suleman Esq has said measures have been stepped up to surmount the incidence of kidnapping and other social vices plaguing the local government area.
The chairman made this known at Ososo, following a distress call about two operatives of the Edo state security network (ESSN) who were shot by kidnappers in a farm at Ajoyo, near Ososo, which left one dead and the other one with varying degree of gun injuries undergoing treatment at the Poly Clinic, Ososo.
In a statement by the media officer of the LGA, Okolo okhavhe said
Hon Alade has given a marching order to the Ososo DPO to unravel the mystery surrounding the “dastardly act”.
The Chairman also called on the Ojah traditional ruler and his Ekpe counterpart to work in synergy with the security agencies towards winning the battle.
“The council boss used the occasion to pay a condolence visit on the family of the deceased at Ojah where he made a handsome donation for the upkeep of his family, while also visiting the Poly Clinic to identify with one of those injured.
“The chairman who later went to Makeke, Ekpe and Ekpedo from Ososo enjoined traditional rulers to work more closely with the security apparatus in profiling people they allow into their communities as a measure to clamping down on criminal elements masquerading as kidnappers”, the statement said.
Hon Alade added that measures have been “revved up to curtail the scourge”.
