The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a combination of sunlight and dust haze across the country from Saturday to Monday. The forecast, released in Abuja on Thursday, provides valuable insights into the atmospheric conditions expected during the specified period.
On Friday, moderate dust haze is anticipated with horizontal visibility ranging from 2Km to 5Km over the North and North Central States. However, localized areas, including Yobe, Borno, Jigawa, and Kano States, may experience reduced visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m.
In the morning hours, patches of clouds and sunny skies are expected over the inland states of the South, while a cloudy atmosphere is anticipated in the coastal regions. Later in the day, sunny skies with patches of clouds are projected over the inland states, with the possibility of localized thunderstorms in parts of Edo, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Cross River, and Rivers States.

Throughout Saturday, significant dust haze is expected across the northern states. The forecast for the entire weekend predicts moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2Km to 5Km in the country’s north-central region.
NiMet further forecasts clear skies with patches of cloud cover across the southern inland states during the forecast period. Coastal regions are likely to experience a cloudy atmosphere during the early hours.
The weather service also highlights bright and hazy conditions across the interior states throughout the day. Additionally, there is a possibility of localized thunderstorms in parts of Rivers, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa states later in the day.
