As the year draws to a close and festivities approach, Mr. Abolurin Oluwaseun, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has called on Nigerians to prioritize preventive security measures to ensure their safety. He emphasized the importance of proactive measures rather than reactive responses to security incidents.
During a webinar titled “Navigating End-of-Year Security Issues,” hosted by the Lagos State Branch of the Institute of Safety Professionals (ISPON), Oluwaseun highlighted the significance of maintaining heightened security during the Yuletide season. As people prepare to celebrate, ensuring security becomes paramount.

Oluwaseun also emphasized the need to ensure the safety of schools during this time, stressing that security agencies must be vigilant to counter against rising threats. The NSCDC representative stressed the imperative of safeguarding individuals who will be traveling during the festive period, ensuring they are protected from robbery or attacks perpetrated by unscrupulous elements in society.
With a focus on preventive security, individuals are encouraged to be proactive in their approach by implementing precautionary measures to mitigate risks. This includes utilizing appropriate security systems, securing homes and vehicles, and being aware of personal surroundings.
