The National Teachers Institute (NTI), based in Kaduna, has made a plea for an augmentation in the federal government’s budgetary allocation for education.
In an assertive statement issued on Thursday following the conclusion of a three-day conference held at the NTI headquarters, the institute emphasized the need for additional funds to bolster infrastructure, delivery methods, and the overall quality of education in the country.
Under the theme of “Re-directing the Focus of Education Stakeholders Towards Modern Process of Producing Competent, Dedicated and Professional Teachers in Nigeria,” the conference shed light on the glaring disparities in teacher training, resource allocation, and the implementation of effective teaching practices across the nation.
According to Prof. Musa Garba-Maitafsir, the Director of the Institute, an upward review of the budgetary allocation is imperative for the sector’s development. The statement further highlighted the critical necessity to improve the remuneration of all teachers in alignment with the present economic realities of the country.
