The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed his administration’s intention to halt the operation of tricycles, commonly known as Keke Napep, in certain areas of Abuja.
Wike also assured the public that the issue of one-chance criminal activities would soon be resolved in Nigeria’s capital, stating that there will be no Keke Napep operations in Asokoro and Maitama.
To address transportation challenges and combat criminal activities associated with one-chance, Wike announced that the FCDA (Federal Capital Development Authority) would be introducing buses and taxis in the near future.

These vehicles will serve all routes in Asokoro and Maitama, aiming to replace Keke Napep. Wike stated, “We are kicking out Keke Napep at least in these areas. Some of these Keke Napep are agents of criminals.”
Highlighting the potential benefits of the proposed buses, Wike emphasized that improved transportation options would encourage people to commute from their areas to work and return home more conveniently.
During his address to Estate Developers and Residents’ Associations in the Federal Capital Territory, Wike urged residents to cooperate with the FCDA by fulfilling their tax obligations.
He acknowledged that the changes may be inconvenient, but emphasized the necessity of facing them for the greater good.
