In response to a publication by the Daily Post, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strongly refuted the claim that their Head of Public Affairs made a statement about an impending national blackout. TCN asserts that the article is entirely misleading and lacks any foundation.
The allegation made by the Daily Post is deemed mischievous and without merit, as TCN confirms that no such statement was issued by their Public Affairs Head. They emphasize that the nation’s power grid remains intact and continues to supply bulk electricity to distribution load centers across the country.
At the time of releasing this statement, the TCN National Control Centre in Osogbo, responsible for overseeing the transmission of power nationwide, is fully operational. This clarification aims to reassure the public that there are no concerns regarding a national blackout at present.
TCN urges media organizations to exercise responsibility and accuracy in their reporting, rather than engaging in sensationalism that may cause unnecessary panic and confusion among the population.
