A part of the Supreme Court caught fire on Monday morning; however, the court has confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the incident. The Public Relations Officer for the Court, Mr. Festus Akande, explained that the fire was of electrical origin, stemming from one of the Justices’ chambers, and was promptly extinguished using fire extinguishers. Akande debunked rumors circulating on social media about casualties, labeling them as “fake news.”
According to an anonymous source, the fire started at approximately 6 am. Reports indicate that the cleaning staff on duty and some early-bird workers noticed the fire and immediately raised the alarm. Using the fire extinguishers available within the building, the workers were able to contain and combat the fire. The fire affected three offices, including that of Justice Mohammed Saulawa.
