Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hosted a delegation led by Mrs. Oghogho Musa, the President of the Defence and Police Wives Association, along with the wives of Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police at the State House in Abuja. During the meeting, she emphasized the importance of looking beyond the current challenges and focusing on a brighter future. She reassured that the government is working on ways to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
In her efforts to support this cause, she appealed to the wives of the Service Chiefs for assistance with her project, the ‘Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI),’ which aims to alleviate the effects of the subsidy on Nigerians. To make the project successful, she highlighted the need for collaboration and support from various associations, especially to reach women in different barracks.
The ultimate goal is to create a better Nigeria for future generations, with enhanced well-being and prosperity. The ‘Renewed Hope Initiative’ also intends to provide assistance to widows of fallen military officers. Mrs. Musa, the leader of the visiting delegation, expressed the commitment of various associations under Defence and Police Officers wives to partner with the initiative across its focus areas, including Agriculture, Education, Health, Economic Empowerment, and Social Investment.
In recognition of her involvement, the First Lady was appointed the Grand Matron of the Defence and Police Officers Wives Association, as stipulated in the associations’ constitutions.
