In a remarkable show of solidarity and commitment, citizens from across Nigeria have come together to voice their collective grievances against anti-poor and anti-peoples’ policies of the government. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming response to the nationwide protest, despite attempts to discourage participation.
Under the banner ” You Have Spoken Loudly Nigerians: It Resonated and Resounded,” the NLC and TUC issued a press release today jointly signed by the NLC president Comrade Joe Ajaero and the TUC president Comrade Festus Osifo, acknowledging the unwavering determination of the Nigerian people.
Despite intimidations and efforts to stifle their voices, citizens turned out en-masse at various locations throughout the country. Their presence served as a resounding testament to their commitment to change and a rejection of continuous suffering.
The joint statement emphasized that this massive turnout signifies a collective resolve among citizens to hold those in power accountable and demand a voice in shaping the nation’s future. The trade unions, heralded as the guardians of this collective will, appreciated the National Assembly’s swift response and pledge to address the issues raised by the protesters.
Additionally, the statement shed light on an impending Court summons that aims to charge the NLC and TUC with contempt of Court. The unions called on all Nigerians to remain vigilant, at potential challenges ahead.

Amidst the ongoing struggle, Nigerian workers are set to attend Court proceedings across the nation in response to the contempt charges. Sectors including Airports, Seaports, Hospitals, and Schools are poised to demonstrate solidarity, symbolizing the unbreakable bond between citizens and labor.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted a pivotal development resulting from the protest an invitation from President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for a closed-door meeting with NLC and TUC leadership. The discussions yielded substantial progress, including a commitment to restructure engagement frameworks, ensure the Port Harcourt Refinery’s production commencement by December, finalize the Wage Award for Nigerian workers, and unveil a roadmap to the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) alternative.
Buoyed by the President’s commitments, the NLC and TUC have announced a renewed dialogue process. This marks a turning point in the journey toward achieving the protesters’ demands, underscoring the importance of vigilance and unity in shaping a brighter future for Nigeria.
