Recently, there was a viral image that was well circulated on social media which claimed that the US President, Joe Biden was riding a bike at age 81. Those circulating the image apparently wanted to draw comments on social media and had asked if the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose age makes him much younger than the US leader, was capable of carrying out such an energy sapping feat.
In the image, the US President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill Biden were seen riding bicycles. While the social media was awash with comments over the comparison, fact checkers at the Explainer dug deep to see if the image was recent. To authenticate the veracity of the assertion, the Explainer subjected the image to an image reverse search tool which revealed that the picture was taken on Thursday, June 3, 2021.

Further checks by the Explainer showed that the image was taken on the said date during the celebration of the 70th birthday of the American first lady, Dr. Jill Biden and as at that time, the US President was 78 years old and not 81 years as claimed by the poster of the image. Joe Biden had in a rare bid to celebrate his wife on her 70th birthday taken her to her favorite place, their vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where the picture was taken. Therefore, the claim that Joe Biden rode the bicycle in the image recently at the age of 81 is false and misleading.
