IMARAN HASSAN, AGED 11 and Nura Jibrin, aged 10 were hit with a bullet following a violent clash that involved students of Annur Islamic Model School in Chaichainiya and some aggrieved youths in Zumba Bread under Suleja Area of the state over a girlfriend’s clash.
Our reporter gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday night between students and Zumba Bread youths in Suleja.
A source who spoke to The Explainer said the violent clashes occurred over a girlfriend, which led to a full-on brawl and a gunshot that hit two minors.
“After Tarawhih prayer, the dispute which started as a girlfriend matter escalated into a big brawl at about 9:30pm”, a source who preferred to be anonymous said.
The source said that Umar Idris, a student of senior class (SS3), led his colleagues to disrupt the area with weapons and engaged in a fight.
He named the minors who sustained gunshot wounds as Imaran Hassan and Nura Jibrin.
“During the clash, Imarana Hassan aged 11 and Nura Jibrin aged 10 were hit with bullet wounds on their different thigh legs. They were hit with shots from unknown angles”, he said.
He further narrated that Police and local vigilantes were mobilized to the affected area to restore normalcy and also evacuate the injured victims to Suleja General Hospital, where they are responding to treatment.
“Six suspects were arrested in connection to the attack while police and school officials are working closely to arrest other students involved in the attack”.
Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Spokesman in the state, confirmed the incident to this reporter in a WhatsApp message, saying that 11 suspects were arrested in Chaichainiya, of Kaduna Road.
His message reads, “11 suspects arrested for thuggery and breach of public peace in Chaichainiya, Kaduna Road.
“On 6/3/2025 at about 11pm, reports were received that youths and some secondary students were fighting at Chaichainiya area of Kaduna road over issues of lovers by one Umar Idris of same area”.
“It was reported that during the incident, gunshots were heard from different directions which hit two victims on their laps; one Nura and Imrana, both 10 and 11yrs respectively”.
He however added that during the Police covert operation, eleven suspects including the said Umar Idris were arrested and under Police investigation.

Abiodun further stated that investigation revealed that a personnel of a sister security agency was responsible for the shooting that led to the gunshot injuries of the two victims.
“Meanwhile, investigation is being intensified for further necessary action, and further development will be made known to be public”.
