Lakurawa Terrorists Kill Three Airtel Workers in Kebbi, 48 Hours After Slaying Four Soldiers

THREE EMPLOYEES of Airtel telecommunication company in Kebbi State have been gruesomely murdered by the members of the Lakurawa terrorist groups according to the State’s Police Command.

The workers were shot dead when they were installing a surveillance mast on Friday.

The incident happened barely 48 hours after the terror group reportedly killed four soldiers in an attack on Tafouka, a town in Konni, Tahoua region in southern Niger.

Lakurawa also called the Jama’a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM), penetrated areas of Kebbi and Sokoto from Mali and the Niger Republic.

According to reports, the rebels broke into a building site in Gumki village, Arewa LGA, that evening.

The spokesperson of the Police in Kebbi, Nafiu Abubakar, said that four persons, including an indigene, were killed.

He said the deceased was taken immediately to the Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in the state capital, Birnin Kebbi.

Abubakar stressed that the police commissioner of Kebbi State, Bello Sani, has deployed tactical units to the scene to deal with the gunmen.

“In order to apprehend the offenders, the commissioner has sent more tactical teams to the scene of the incident,” Abubakar said to reporters.

Troops have been ordered by military chiefs to expel and eliminate the terrorist organisation from Nigerian territory.
