Vice President Kamala Harris has officially conceded the U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump, marking the end of her historic bid to become America’s first female president.
Speaking from Washington, Harris addressed her supporters after personally congratulating Trump on his victory.
“Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory,” she said in her concession speech.
Maintaining her characteristic resilience, Harris emphasized the ongoing nature of her campaign’s mission:
“While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign.”
Trump’s victory was secured through crucial wins in several battleground states, with U.S. broadcasters projecting his triumph in North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin on Wednesday.
The President-elect demonstrated strength in both electoral college and popular vote counts, marking a notable difference from his 2016 victory when Hillary Clinton claimed the popular vote majority.
The election represents a remarkable political resurrection for Trump, who lost his re-election bid to Joe Biden in 2020.
His successful “Make America Great Again (MAGA)” campaign platform has earned him a return to the White House, where he will be sworn in alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance on January 20, 2025.

Harris’s candidacy emerged after incumbent President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and subsequently endorsed her, with Democratic Party delegates confirming her nomination at their national convention.
