As stakeholders worldwide celebrate the 2024 World Tourism Day, the Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) and the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Kaduna campus, are seeking collaboration with other stakeholders in the sector.
The Director of Tourism Business, Innovation, and Technology, Patience Iya, promised that the Kaduna state government, through the ministry, will ensure collaboration with stakeholders for an improved tourism sector.
According to Iya, Kaduna state has the potential to lead other states in the tourism sector in the country. At the World Tourism Day event in Kaduna, FTAN State Coordinator Dr. Tobi Bernard Thomas emphasized his association’s dedication to promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
Dr. Thomas urged the government and stakeholders to recognize the sector’s significant contributions to the nation’s economy and Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
FTAN and NIHOTOUR are advocating for policy reforms to explore Nigeria’s diverse destinations. NIHOTOUR Kaduna Campus Coordinator Mrs. Clara Asoko noted that while Kaduna is a great city, tourism awareness is low among its residents.
This necessitates creating awareness about tourism’s benefits and economic gains.
Asoko explained that NIHOTOUR organized a ‘Road Walk’ in Kaduna to sensitize and create awareness about the sector’s benefits to the nation. Tourism promotes peace, tolerance, and global unity.
