Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, has expressed unwavering confidence in his prospects for victory in the ongoing election.
Speaking after casting his vote at Polling Unit 3, Ward 1 in Idinrio Primary School, Okagbe, Ewohimi Community on Saturday, Ighodalo boldly declared:
“We expect we will win this election hands-down and by landslide. And, thereafter, we will settle with the people of Edo and we will see how we will take the state to the next level.”
The lawyer-turned-politician emphasized his readiness to accept defeat if the electoral process proves transparent. However, he swiftly added that such a scenario was unlikely, asserting:
“I am the person that will receive the call (from APC candidate) to concede defeat. Like I said, I will win this election by a landslide.”
Ighodalo’s confidence appears to stem from his belief in the strength of his campaign and support base.
The PDP candidate took a moment to commend the security arrangements for the election, particularly praising the Nigerian military’s efforts. “The Nigerian military has made me extremely proud. They have shown great responsibility by protecting the people,” Ighodalo remarked.
