The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has achieved a significant milestone in Nigeria’s digital identity efforts.
The agency reports that 110 million Nigerians have successfully enrolled for National Identification Numbers (NIN) .
Mrs. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, NIMC’s Director-General, announced this milestone during the 6th National Identity Day celebration in Abuja.
She reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to enrolling more Nigerians quickly
She said, “We are working to ensure that more Nigerians are enrolled within the shortest possible time.”
Key stakeholders, including NIMC officials, the Federal Ministry of Interior, and other organizations, participated in the event.

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of effective data protection due to the increased enrollment
“With the increased number of Nigerians captured by NIMC, effective data protection is now key,” he said.
National Identity Day, celebrated annually since 2020, aims to drive enrollment in the national identity database.
