The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has granted a three-day extension for Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection in Edo State.
The decision comes in response to appeals from political parties during a recent stakeholders meeting.
INEC spokesman Sam Olumekun announced the extension in an official statement.
He explained, “Consequently, a three-day extension has been granted from Friday 13th – Sunday 15th September 2024. The cards will be available for collection in our 18 Local Government offices across the State from 9am to 5pm daily.”
The stakeholders meeting, held at the Victor Uwaifo Event Centre in Benin City, saw widespread attendance from candidates and party leaders. Attendees unanimously requested additional time for PVC collection to ensure broader voter participation.
Olumekun emphasized the importance of this opportunity, stating, “INEC is appealing to all registered voters in Edo state that are yet to collect their PVCs to seize the opportunity of the extension to do so.”
The extension aims to maximize voter engagement in the upcoming Edo governorship election.
