The Kaduna State Government has relaxed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on Kaduna metropolis and Zaria, following violent protests in the areas.
According to the state government, the curfew is now from 6 pm to 8 am, while citizens can move freely from 8 am to 6 pm.
This was contained in a statement signed and made available to the press on Wednesday evening by the overseeing Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
The statement noted that after a thorough review of the security situation in Kaduna and Zaria towns and environs, there was a need to review the curfew period.

“By this review, the curfew will now be in effect from 6 pm to 8 am daily. This implies that citizens may move freely and carry out their legitimate activities between 8 am and 6 pm, and will be under curfew from 6 pm to 8 am,” the statement reads.
Meanwhile, the state government has assured citizens of its total commitment to the peace and security of the state, adding that security forces will continue to vigorously enforce the curfew as stated. The government also reiterated its readiness to confront any actions that may lead to a breakdown of law and order during periods of movement as well as restriction.
