The Rotary Club of Barnawa, Kaduna, has provided support for business start-up to some vulnerable members of the society, which aimed at alleviating poverty in the society.
This was said to be in line with the Rotary’s agenda and areas of focus, as no fewer than two women recieved grinding machines for a business start-up.
The 20th President of the Club, Rotarian Adeyemi Adekunle during his investiture in Kaduna recently said, since its charter 20 years ago, the Club has successfully initiated and executed numerous projects that had a positive impact on the community.
He said, “our Club has made significant contributions to education through donation of school furniture to GGSS Barnawa. We have assisted in the release of prisoners on bail conditions, and promoting environmental sustainability by undertaking tree planting activities.
” In the past, we have equally donated a calibrated self-monitoring blood bank, constisting of a foster refrigerator to St. Gerald hospital in Kakuri Kaduna, which has undoubtedly saved countless lives.”
In his investiture’s speech, the new President promised to focus on several key areas, aligned with Rotary International’s areas of focus, while adding that a list of projects have been identified in the interest of nation building.
During the investiture, students were also empowered with school bags, exercise books and mathematical sets, while cash gift goes to other beneficiaries.
In their seperate remarks, the beneficiaries applauded the gesture, and prayed God to continually help the Club.
Meanwhile, the outgone President, Rotarian Bilal Adamu Halilu enjoined the new president to build on the progress made, and learn from the mistakes of the past leaders. ” Listen more and react only when necessary,” Rotarian Halilu urged.
