President Bola Tinubu has made changes in the leadership of the Police Service Commission (PSC), relieving former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase of his duties as Chairman. In a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) on Monday.
It was disclosed that Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) has been appointed as the new Chairman. Also, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani has been named as Secretary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as a Member of the Commission. The Explainer learnt the appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The statement also noted that more members of the Police Service Commission would be appointed in due course. Moreover, President Tinubu has appointed Mr. Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately. The Presidency statement quoted Tinubu to have emphasized the need for integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in fulfilling these roles for the betterment of the Nigeria Police Force and the nation as a whole.
