The Gbagyi/Gbari Youth Association, representing the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and Senator Ireti Kingibe to urgently intervene in the recurring kidnapping activities in Kuje Area Council.
In a press briefing on Monday, Comrade Nuhu Dodondawa Auta, President of the Gbagyi/Gbari Youth Association FCT, expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation and the impact of on the well-being of the people.
He said, “We have watched with dismay, how the security of lives and property has been tampered with as a result of kidnapping and similar crimes in the Kuje Area Council in particular and the FCT in general.”
The association highlighted a recent incident in which kidnappers struck a community called Gafere in Kuje Area Council around midnight on Saturday, abducting nine individuals.

“This occurred at around 12 am on Saturday night. The intruders successfully operated without a counter-action from the security operatives,” Auta stated.
The kidnapped victims were identified as: Hassana Obadiah Bedoche, Esther Obadiah Bedoche, Israel Shekwokpelo Obadiah, Victor Abu, Esther Elisha, Alice Adamu, Ashiru, Terese Ormear, and Sewuese Terese.
Demanding swift action, the association called on President Tinubu, FCT Minister Wike, and Senator Kingibe to address the situation urgently. “We call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, to act swiftly to arrest this ugly situation,” Auta said.
Furthermore, the association urged Senator Ireti Kingibe to prioritize the security of the people of the FCT or resign her position.

“We call on Senator Ireti Kingibe to act and take the security of the people of the FCT seriously or resign her position,” Auta stated.
The association also called on the Commissioner of Police to be proactive and deploy. He called on security agents to urgently go after the kidnappers and rescue the innocent victims unharmed in a timely manner.
“The above demands are key towards the liberation, development, and peaceful co-existence of the FCT indigene and other Nigerians. For the sake of justice and equity, we plead that the above demands be considered and granted,” Auta added.
