The Kaduna State Bureau of Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment (KADBUSA) recently launched the Kaduna State Children Amplified Prevention System (KdCHAMPS) Initiative.
This unveiling was carried out in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Dr. Aisha A. Sadiq, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, represented the Commissioner of Health at the unveiling.
She emphasized the importance of Healthcare and Human Capital Development under the administration of Governor Uba Sani. “Healthcare is not complete without addressing issues related to mental health and substance abuse,” she stated.
Dr. Sadiq further pointed out that 40-60% of Kaduna’s population stand to directly benefit from the KD CHAMPS initiative by KADBUSA. This initiative aims to secure the future of the state.
Dr. Akanidomo Ibanga, representing the Country Director of UNODC Nigeria, expressed his excitement about their partnership with Kaduna State. He said, “We are thrilled to partner with Kaduna State, which is set to become the first place globally to implement an evidence-based system of prevention in line with global best practices.”
The UNODC, during the unveiling, reiterated their commitment to providing technical support to the Kaduna State Government throughout the implementation of the Initiative.
