The Kebbi State Government, through the office of the Auditor General for Local Government Councils (LGCs) and Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), has announced the sanitization of the payroll of all staff in these entities.
Faruku Muhammad, the newly confirmed Auditor General for Local Government and LGEAs, shared this development with the press from his office in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday, the capital of Kebbi State.
“Before my tenure as Auditor General, there were issues of ghost workers in the local government councils and education authorities. However, these problems have now been resolved,” Muhammad stated.
He further explained, “We dispatched our staff to all twenty-one local government councils to verify the authenticity of each employee’s credentials or promotions.”
Muhammad affirmed that his office, with the cooperation of the workers, has eradicated all instances of ghost syndrome in the payroll of all local government councils and LGEAs in Kebbi State.
Expressing gratitude towards Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu for his appointment as the substantive Auditor General for local government, Muhammad assured the governor of his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to him.
He appealed to the workers in the LGAs and LGEAs for continuous support to the Kauran Gwandu-led administration in its efforts to improve the lives of the people of Kebbi State, particularly the local government workforce.
