The Tuk-Ham Festival 2024 marked its vibrant return to Kwoi, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Saturday, March 30th, after a six-year hiatus.
This cultural extravaganza brought together the Ham communities from various local government areas in Kaduna and Nassarawa States, celebrating the rich heritage and unity of the Ham people.
“The support from Nigerian Breweries, Seven-Up, and Grand Oak has been instrumental in the festival’s success,” said Bello Bissalla, head of media for the Tuk-Ham Festival 2024.
He highlighted the introduction of a Vendor’s Village, which provided a dynamic space for corporate partners to engage with the audience and promote their brands.
The festival commenced with a football tournament featuring 16 communities, where young talents showcased their skills.
“The presence of former Super Eagles players Emmanuel Babayaro and Tijjani Babangida added a touch of excitement to the event,” Bissalla noted.
He continued, “The festival also offered a Medical Outreach, providing surgeries and healthcare services to hundreds of underprivileged individuals, reflecting our commitment to community welfare.”
The week-long celebration included a talent hunt and a musical concert, offering a platform for local musicians to display their talents.
“These events not only entertained but also enriched the cultural experience for everyone involved,” Bissalla added.
At the Grand Finale, His Majesty, the 9th Kpop Ham Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude OON, expressed his immense satisfaction with the festival’s return.
“Seeing our culture celebrated with such enthusiasm fills me with great pride,” he stated.
Ambassador Bulus Lolo, Chairman of the Tuk Ham 2024 Festival Organizing Committee, shared his satisfaction with the planning and execution of the festival.
“The hard work and dedication of everyone involved have paid off, making this year’s festival a memorable one,” he said.
Reverend Jerry Andrew, HAMCDA National President, in his welcome address, called for the advancement of the Ham community.
“We seek to upgrade the Nok National Museum and propose the renaming of Jaba Local Government Area to Ham Local Government Area,” he stated.
The festival also recognized individuals who have contributed to the development of Hamland, fostering a sense of community and appreciation.
