The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially declared that candidates who participated in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) can now obtain their original result slips.
In a statement released on Monday, JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin announced that the printing of result slips would commence on July 22, 2024. However, he emphasized that this service would be exclusively available at approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers.
“Candidates are now able to print their original result slips at designated CBT centers starting Monday, July 22,” Benjamin stated.
The examination body issued a stern warning to candidates, urging them to avoid printing their results at cybercafes or other unofficial internet-enabled platforms. JAMB cited concerns over potential fraudulent activities, particularly attempts to inflate scores.
Benjamin elaborated on this point, saying, “Please note that result slips cannot be printed from cybercafes or other internet-enabled platforms. Candidates are strongly advised to follow approved channels for printing and avoid falling victim to fraudulent activities, such as attempted score inflation, perpetrated by individuals seeking to exploit this process.”
JAMB highlighted that the printed result slips would include the candidate’s photograph and advanced security features, serving as a secure and verifiable record of their examination results.
“It is important to note that candidates’ scores were previously released via the Board’s sort code, so this physical copy serves as a secure and verifiable record of their results,” the statement added.
The 2024 UTME, which saw over 1.6 million registered candidates, was conducted between April 29 and May 12 at approved CBT centers across Nigeria. JAMB had already released the results to candidates via text messages sent to the mobile phone numbers used during registration.
This latest development allowing for the printing of original result slips is aimed at providing further authentication and facilitating record-keeping for the candidates.
As the gateway to tertiary education in Nigeria, the UTME results play a crucial role in determining candidates’ eligibility for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
