President Bola Tinubu has implemented a major overhaul of his media and communications structure, introducing a pioneering collaborative spokesperson system at the State House.
The restructuring, announced through an official statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, marks a significant shift from the traditional single-spokesperson model to a more integrated approach.
“There is no single individual spokesperson for the Presidency. Instead, all three Special Advisers will collectively serve as spokespersons for the government,” release stated.
Under the new arrangement, Sunday Dare, who previously held the position of Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, has been appointed as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications.
The restructuring also sees Daniel Bwala, formerly designated as Special Adviser, Media and Public Communication, taking on the role of Special Adviser, Policy Communication. Meanwhile, Bayo Onanuga retains his position as Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
“This approach aims to ensure effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements,” Onanuga noted.
