NFF Dismisses Reports of Victor Osimhen Ban
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has vehemently denied reports circulating in some online publications that it has imposed a ban on Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen following his recent social media outburst. The Federation has described these claims as an โ€œoutright falsehood.โ€

Speaking on the matter on Wednesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed amazement at the reports, stating, โ€œThe NFF hereby implores the media to join hands with the body to positively resolve issues and then focus on the big picture all the time, rather than needlessly escalate certain matters. There was no official communication from the NFF, yet some persons have gone to town to talk about a ban on Osimhen from the National Team. This is not good at all.โ€

The reports emerged in the wake of Osimhenโ€™s recent social media comments, which were perceived as critical of the NFFโ€™s handling of certain matters. However, the Federation has clarified that it has neither initiated nor concluded any process to ban the player from the National Team.

Sanusi emphasized, โ€œThe NFF has neither instructed a process nor has a process been concluded to ban the player from the National Team.โ€

Amidst the ongoing speculation, the NFF has reiterated its focus on resolving all matters surrounding the Super Eagles and preparing for upcoming crucial fixtures.

Sanusi stated โ€œOur focus presently is to resolve all matters around the Super Eagles and be able to look ahead with confidence to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.โ€

The NFF has urged the media to exercise caution and responsible reporting, emphasizing the importance of positive collaboration rather than escalating issues unnecessarily.

โ€œThis is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space the more,โ€ he said
