The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched successful airstrikes against major bandit hideouts in Kaduna State, leading to the liberation of multiple kidnap victims and the destruction of criminal infrastructure.
Air Commodore Olusola F Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, made the announcement in astatement on Saturday, that the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA conducted strategic aerial assaults on November 12 as part of Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA in Northwest Nigeria.
“The airstrikes targeted major bandit enclaves located within Dunya Hill and Batauna Forest in Giwa, Kaduna State. These areas have long served as safe havens for bandit groups due to their dense vegetation and the natural protection provided by an array of caves,” Akinboyewa stated.
According to the NAF spokesperson, the operation was preceded by thorough intelligence gathering that identified high-value targets, including key logistics hubs and hidden armouries utilized by the bandits.
The precision strikes resulted in significant casualties among the criminal elements and destroyed their weapon stockpiles and operational resources. “Credible sources from local communities have confirmed that bandits are on the run, their once-secure enclaves in disarray,” Akinboyewa reported.
A notable outcome of the operation has been the escape of several kidnap victims who managed to regain their freedom during the chaos created by the airstrikes on their captors’ strongholds.
The NAF continues to execute these precision airstrikes as part of its broader strategy to incapacitate criminal groups terrorizing the Northwestern region and provide tactical advantages for ground forces.
“This sustained effort not only demonstrates the Armed Forces’ commitment to restoring peace and security but also provides renewed hope to communities that have long suffered under the threat of banditry,” Akinboyewa emphasized.
