The Kaduna State Civil Service Commission has announced that it has made all necessary arrangements to begin the promotion exercise of about 4000 officers across the state.
This exercise aims to clear the backlog of outstanding promotions in the core civil service.
The Chairman of the commission, Sule Shehu Allahbamulafiya, made this known on Monday while briefing journalists at the commission’s headquarters in Kaduna.
He explained that the exercise is crucial because it will cover both 2023 and 2024 promotions, which were delayed earlier due to reasons beyond their control.
According to Chairman Allahbamulafiya, the commission has decided to give the promotion exercise wider publicity to avoid petitions and complaints from civil servants across the state.
“All civil servants across the state should take note of the commencement of the exercise, although all ministries, departments, and agencies across the state have been adequately informed. Issues arising after the exercise will not be entertained,” he said.
To ensure efficiency in the civil service, the commission has introduced an aptitude test for applicants wishing to join the civil service.
They have also engaged consultants for the conduct of annual promotion examinations, which will be computer-based (CBT) from next year due to time constraints. However, candidates must achieve a pass mark of 50 percent in the promotion examinations to qualify for an oral promotion interview.
The state Governor, Uba Sani, has provided all necessary support and resources for the exercise, which begins on September 10 and will be completed in October.
“To reward the diligent efforts and dedication of public servants, thereby enhancing their morale and motivation, Governor Uba Sani has approved the conduct of the 2023 and 2024 promotion exercise simultaneously,” Chairman Allahbamulafiya said.
He reiterated the commission’s mission to produce and maintain an efficient, dedicated, and effective state public service using modern techniques and purposeful guidelines.
