The Kaduna State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns over the alleged exclusion of result sheets from sensitive materials by the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KAD-SIECOM) for the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024.
In a press statement released on Friday, Hon. Edward Percy Masha, Chairman of the PDP in Kaduna State, cautioned KAD-SIECOM to ensure its actions align with electoral guidelines.
ccording to Masha, all the institutions of government including SIECOM and security Agencies must act and be seen to act with impartiality and secure a level playing field for all political actors and citizens to freely exercise their voting rights in the LGAs elections scheduled for Saturday 19th, 2024.
The Chairman of the party vowed not to allow incomplete items to be moved to various local governments, adding that the act is in breach of No 5 of the peace accord which all participating political parties signed yesterday.
PDP therefore called on the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to protect its members and other actors who will not leave the SIECOM office unless and until the result sheets for wards and local governments are released along other materials.
Though, PDP has equally urged its members, the general public and lovers of democracy to remain calm, stating that the party is committed to ensure that the local government electoral act is followed to the later by the umpire.
