A SOCIAL MEDIA POST circulated online stating that Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, a Dubai-based Nigerian Instagram influencer popularly known as Hushpuppi, has finally been set free from the United States of America Prison.
HushPuppi, who was convicted of money laundering and other scams including schemes of stealing $124 million from English Premier League clubs, was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
A verified X user, @Mcphils_Posted a video of HushPuppi on January 17, 2025, exchanging pleasantries with people.
The caption on the One-minute, thirteen-second footage reads, “Hushpuppi’s been released from jail. Let’s hope he has learnt from his mistakes ”
The claim has been viewed 648.1k views, 349 reposted, 988 reposted, 6.1 reacted and 531 bookmarked as of press time.

Findings by The explainer show that the claim is MISLEADING as HushPuppil is still serving his jail term.
The explainer extracted screenshots from the video and subjected it to Reverse Image Search. iLiteTV first uploaded the video to YouTube in 2018 during Hushpuppi’s birthday in Cyprus.
Further, The Explainer checked through the inmate register of the US Federal Bureau of Prisons .
The register contains the details of inmates including name, age, location and release date of HushPuppi.
Details show that Abbas has a registered number of 54313-424, with the location at: FCI Fort Dix and with a release date of April 23, 2029.
