Cristiano Ronaldo has further etched his name into football history by becoming the first men’s player to score 900 official goals.
The Portuguese superstar reached this remarkable milestone during Portugal’s UEFA Nations League match against Croatia on Thursday, netting a volley from close range to help Portugal secure a 2-1 victory.
This achievement extends Ronaldo’s lead over his long-time rival Lionel Messi, who currently stands at 842 goals.
Reflecting on his accomplishment, Ronaldo stated, “900 goals seems like any other milestone, but only I know how hard it is to work every day to score your 900th goal.”
He added with characteristic confidence, “I don’t break records… they haunt me!”
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner emphasized that his primary motivation remains his love for the sport.
“I’m motivated by enjoying football and the records come naturally,” Ronaldo explained.
