A SEEMINGLY harmless game of ‘Truth or Dare’ has spiralled into a full-blown scandal in the Nigerian entertainment industry, dragging popular Yoruba Nollywood actor Babatunde Tayo, widely known as Baba Tee, into controversy.
The Explainer gathered that the actor, who initially denied allegations of an affair with comedian Ganiyu Morufu, aka Ijoba Lande’s estranged wife, Dara, has now admitted to a brief sexual encounter with her.
His confession, made during a live interview with socialite Esabod and TikTokers on Sunday, directly contradicts his earlier stance, where he challenged Lande to provide evidence of the alleged affair or face legal action for defamation. Lande had previously claimed that his wife’s infidelity involved at least 21 men in the entertainment industry, naming Baba Tee among them.
How the Truth or Dare Game Escalated
Initially, Baba Tee denied any involvement, stating that he only met Dara once last year through actress Marygold, who introduced her as a content creator and an upcoming artist. However, his recent admission reveals that the circumstances were more complex than he first portrayed.
Describing the incident, Baba Tee recounted, “When Marygold and Dara came to my house, she (Marygold) claimed that she wanted me to be an MC for an upcoming programme of hers despite not telling me that she was coming with anyone. She introduced Dara as a content creator and not as Lande’s wife. They began to ask if I had a Qatar connection before the ‘Truth or Dare’ game suggestion came up.”

According to him, the game escalated as alcohol and dares pushed the boundaries of social interaction.
“Marygold went completely naked and was daring me consistently to Dara while she kept taking alcohol as a choice of not wanting to do the tasks that I demanded from her. Rather than throwing more ‘Truth’ to me, they were hurling ‘Dare’ at me. Marygold now dared Dara to let me have a ‘quick’ sexual intercourse with her, and she (Dara) obliged,” he admitted.
Baba Tee insisted that he did not know Dara was Lande’s wife at the time and alleged that the entire situation had been orchestrated to tarnish his reputation.
Dara’s Version: Denying Infidelity
Dara, however, has countered Baba Tee’s claims, insisting that she never cheated on her husband and that infidelity was not the cause of their failed marriage.
Speaking during an interview with Esabod and other TikTokers, she explained that she met Baba Tee for the first time in July last year when Marygold invited her to his house to discuss a movie launch event.
Detailing the night’s events, she said, “When we got there, Baba Tee didn’t know I was Lande’s wife. We greeted and Marygold said she wanted to drink alcohol. There was no alcohol in the house, so Marygold and Baba Tee’s driver went to buy it while I sat down in the living room. Baba Tee and I didn’t talk till they returned. When Marygold entered the house, she said we should start a ‘Truth or Dare’ game.”
Dara admitted to participating in the game but denied engaging in any sexual activity.
“Marygold then dared Baba Tee to give me a doggy style, so Baba Tee went to get a condom. When he returned, I told him I would not allow doggy, but I would sit on him. We then told Marygold to turn to the wall so she wouldn’t watch us. I only sat on his lap; we didn’t do anything.”
She challenged Lande to provide evidence that she was unfaithful during their marriage, stating, “I will not say why we broke up for now due to some personal reasons, but it wasn’t about infidelity.”
Lande’s Allegations
Lande, however, has remained adamant that his wife’s alleged infidelity played a significant role in their separation.
His viral interview, in which he accused Dara of being involved with multiple men in the industry, sparked widespread attention. Baba Tee’s recent admission has only added fuel to the controversy.
The Explainer gathered that Marygold, who was present during the ‘Truth or Dare’ game, has been accused of recording what transpired between Baba Tee and Dara. As Lande’s former manager, her role in the unfolding drama has drawn scrutiny, with some questioning her motives.
Following the backlash from his admission, Baba Tee took to Facebook on Monday to apologise to Lande, writing, “I am deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart, brother, Lande. Deep how Dara became Lande’s wife without my knowledge…Hmmm. I fear women.”
While some have accepted his apology, others view it as a damage control attempt following his earlier legal threats. Socialite Esabod advised Baba Tee to make amends with Lande properly, noting that his initial denials only worsened the situation.
The controversy has once again highlighted how scandals and personal disputes among Nigerian entertainers often become public spectacles.
