APC Sweeps Nasarawa LGA Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a landslide victory in the Nasarawa State local government elections, winning all 13 chairmanship positions and dominating the councils with 140 out of 147 seats.

Ayuba Wandai, chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) and returning officer, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Lafia.

The election, which took place on November 2, saw nine political parties fielding candidates across the state.

In a breakdown of the results, the opposition parties managed to secure only seven councillorship positions.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) claimed five seats, with one in Akwanga and four in Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area, while the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) won two seats in Doma Local Government Area.
